One thing that I had to make for Saturday's pop-up shop was a sign with my shop name on it. I thought about ordering something. I thought about printing something. But the short time line and my small printer didn't really allow for either.

So I decided to make a small flag banner with a triangle for each letter. I found sturdy gray felt and then picked regular yellow felt for the letters. (The colors match the backside of my business cards.) Monday night, I made a triangle template out of paper and then free hand cut the letters. I have a super simple logo font (Helvetica) so it wasn't too hard.

I machine stitched the letters onto the triangles with white thread and then folded down the top of the triangle (I left a border for this purpose) with bakers twine inside it and sewed that in place too. It was way easier than it might look. And I am super happy with the results.

Hi Elise. I’m still following along and enjoying your blog, even though I never comment. (sorry) I just jumped over to your etsy page, and it occurred to me that some of your posters would be really well suited to becoming greeting cards. (for example, I’d use the coffee cup “I’ll drink to that” as a congrats card.) Have you ever considered branching out in that direction?

amazing banner! i’m sad that i’ve got to work this weekend and can’t come down to SD to see your shop in person. tons of luck! i know your shop will be the BEST one there! i love the look of stitching on cards, layouts or pretty much anything. i don’t have a sewing machine but i’d love to get a good (but cheap) one to start off with….any recommendations?

thanks for so many inspiring ideas, from your office redesign to your holiday book. you are officially my favorite blogger to read. (you were already in the Top 5. Ha!) I’ve been slowly browsing my way through your Book Catalog too. Just that you took the time to do that in itself shows your commitment to your craft and to inspiring others. Good luck at your show! I’m in my first one soon too. 🙂
