MiniLOGO

YES! It's finally ready to roll. I have been working hard the past few weeks to get this together. First brainstorming. Then drafting. Then developing. And finally setting up the class blog.

I'm very excited for this mini book workshop. I worried about how to teach mini book building, but when I read through your thoughts and started to write and type, the ideas came together well. The material is vast and strong. I can't wait to get it out there!

How awesome 🙂 I’m so excited; I love your work! I’ve never taken an online scrapbooking class before, but am pretty computer savey so I should be ok. Thanks Elise!

hi! Thanks for joining! Once you get an email about the class blog, there will be a list of supplies that I use most frequently. My projects will be shown step by step, but they are more to inspire you than for you to make exactly with the same materials. What you have on hand will probably work well for your own books. Does that make sense? Thanks again!! elise

Just signed up, can’t wait for the class to start! I gave up “traditionnal” scrapbooking two or three years ago and am now only interested in mini-books, so this is the perfect class for me. Thank you Elise for setting this up! I’ve loved your work ever since I saw a feature about your post-graduation Europe trip album in an english magazine, so it’s been a while 🙂

Sounds super, Elise! Question: are you offering a kit specifically for this class or is there anything from your shop that would be suitable? I’m really liking the look of the fall mini kit but was holding off from buying it until you announced your class. Thanks 😉

  8. elise blaha Avatar

hi Lana, no, there will not be a kit with this class. You are more than welcome to purchase the fall kit and will get some good tips that you could use when putting it together. But the point of the workshop is more that you be able to find papers and patterns and stuff that work well together in a minibook without needing a kit. 🙂

just signed up and so super excited. i had 66 4×6 photos printed from our oregon coast trip this summer. can’t wait to get these documented in a BIG mini book. thinking my 2-inch book rings might be to small.

As we get closer to the class start date I hope to share photo previews. Again, this is going to be more lecture based so the topics highlighted are what the class will entail.

i’m very interested in this class. i’ve been admiring your art for awhile. i was wondering, are the mini books you’ll be working with primarily 4×6 or will there be other size such as 5×7, 6×8, etc?

    Like

  20. elise blaha Avatar

Right now, I will be walking through one 4×6, one 3.5×4.75 and then one non-square shape. But most of the tips (photo taking, paper selection, embellishments, storytelling) will be applicable to different sizes. Thanks for your interest!

hi Liz, the focus on this workshop is just minibooks and will be much more in depth. I am not repeating any projects, samples, embellishments, or challenges. However, both classes are in my style and so there might be a bit of unintentional overlap.

Registered! And so excited! I love your finished products, but my brain doesn’t make the connection from taking a pile of stuff (cards, pics, ticket stubs, etc.) and making it into a cute little showpiece. This class is just what I need. Thanks for putting it together!

am thinking about registering and just wonder how many projects there will be, because you mentioned that the workshop is more lecture based. So for example when you talk about paper selection is this just a text or will there be samples and projects too??
(Hope you undestand what I mean!!!)

    Like

  28. elise blaha Avatar

hi Tanja, there will be about 5 or 6 challenges for you to take on if youd like. There will be 10 samples of ways to embellish paper (including some digital tricks). I will be sharing 2 brand new books from start to finish and will be walking through my honeymoon album. I am going to show step-by-step instructions for binding techniques. And of course there are the lecture items listed. BUT – the books you come up with, will be your own. Im just giving the guidelines and ideas that work for me. Does that make sense?

The class sounds great but I’m away/here with an out of town visitor during the 2 weeks. Will all the class info be left up for a while? Is there any disadvantage to reading it all after? (ie. is there “homework” involved).

    Hey Elise,
I love your mini books and would love to do this class but its exactly when I’m on an action packed vacation and won’t be able to get online very often. I think the class will be great for documenting my adventure.
Are the lectures video or podcasts that will remain up for me to return to or do I have to tune in during the 2 weeks to get the full benefit?

hi Laura, the class blog will be up until the end of September and you will be able to download pdfs of all the class topics. Because the workshop is about developing your minibook skills, there is nothing to lose by reading it all at one time at the end. There are challenges, but nothing that you need to do within a certain time frame or order. Hope that helps!
