Thank you!
I love how everything you do is a mini book. Such as a small trip ends up in a mini album. That would be cool to figure out what to put in the mini album. I always have trouble finding enough stuff to fill my mini and make it “cool”. Not really sure if this is class material or just a post 🙂 I’m sure whatever you come up with is going to be AMAZING.
I can’t wait!!
xoxo,
Christen

I totally agree with Christen, I never have any idea what to put in a mini book.
I’d also love some advice on putting colors together.
And, as always, any help with the digital stuff.
I love your classes!

As I have never done a mini book before, I would love to know the whole process. From choosing the theme, colors, what kind of photos to use, how to put it together. Even the stuff how to (what kind of papers, supplies etc.). I can’t wait for your class, Elise!

I’m a new follower and have looked your site over pretty thoroughly. I love it. I’m looking forward to a class!!
A live tutorial would be great on your books. I read about how to make them. They seem semi-straight forward. Except I was thinking about how to cut everything down to the size of the book. How to make photo pages look good? etc… just a more in depth tutorial would be great.
You seem to take really great pictures without an expensive camera. A few more tips on lighting and working with your camera to get the light just right.

As a digi scrapper, you got me back into paper scrapping with mini books…and now I’m obsessed! Mine are all ongoing mini books, which I love! One thing I’d like to see in a class, is lots of various ideas for mini book topics. Since my husband and I are trying to buy a house this year, there aren’t any vacations or trips to make a mini book of. CAN’T wait for the class!!!

I would love to see how you would throw together a vacation or road trip mini. I have a nice chunk of pictures waiting to be thrown together from a trip.

I would like to see one with ideas and themes for making a mini book of goals/lists; similar to your 25 @ 25 mini. And a “what I eat” theme; really eager to start a mini about recipes I’ve been making! Thanks for looking for input from blogland!

Yes yes yes yes!!! I’d love to learn to take photos and make minis with textures and colors with a common theme. I love those! Oh and the vacation/roadtrip as well! I loved the one you made for NYC.

Totally agree with the mini book. I can never really get enough stuff together it seems. Like, how do you collect the stuff & keep up with it? And how do you decide whether its a keeper or trash because whenever I keep stuff, it often looks like I dug through the trash can and pasted the contents onto some paper. And how you take such good photos…

Reading the comments above, I see I’m not the only one feeling a bit stuck when it comes to choose what to put in a mini-book.
I love paper, textures, playing with colors, and most of all I’m very passionate about pictures, yet I can never seem to glue all these elements together in something as tangible as a mini-book. I would love to though !
Maybe a theme or list(s) oriented mini-book project, like Suzanne above suggested, would be nice ?
Anyway, I have no doubt you will make it inspiring and approachable 😉 I can’t wait.

I’d love a photoshop class. you always set up amazing things using photoshop and I am so intimidated by it. also would love a mini book class that has a matching kit 🙂

That’s the best news this week, a mini book class by you. As for what to put in the class, I’d like to learn about the whole process, how do you start, which papers to select, you always have these fun papers that come from surprising sources, how to decide on the format, what themes can you use, and how to put it all together. I can’t wait, I’m sure it’ll be a great class.

I love everything you come up with.. but I agree with Samantha.. you’re so crafty with Photoshop, I’d love to know more.. and you’re photo collage books. How do you do it?! And I would love a how to of how you got your business up and running and how that experience has been/is going for you. I love hearing about your day-to-day routine, and you’re cooking endeavors in the kitchen. Love your photos and house tours.. & love that you blog often! Can’t wait to see what you come up with for a class!

I agree with Samatha that a minibook with photoshop techniques would be great. Something that teaches you overlays, layout, and some of the other fun approaches that you use.

I like all the comments. I like having instruction from beginning to end….how to choose papers, photos, colors, embelishments, and then put it all together. I also love the idea of some photoshop lessons. I’m new to photoshop and it’s very difficult for me. So, even just some basic instructions would be good for me.

I love anything mini but I normally scrapbook everything in the 12×12 format. I would love know your editing process on how to get down to that mini size.

I would love to know more about digital elements to put in my photo books. I have PSE and am slowly learning about it, but it would be great to have a section or two in the class that would help us with divider pages, journaling on a photo, or other cool tips.

Hi Elise,
I’ll echo some others. Here’s my wish list for this class:
ideas for selecting papers (either found or purchased)
concepting a minibook – what story and how to tell it through the pages
how to make them flow – through cropping, where to journal, where to add in photos
tips for keeping up with “perpetual” collection minis
tips for finishing minis that tell a specific story
mini on the road – thoughts for getting to the core of what you “really” need to bring along to get the project done on the road. less = more, I expect.
ideas on what stories to “mini”
thanks lady! looking forward to what you come up with 🙂

This sounds great! My 2 cents: how to crop photos & how to do any digital stuff (i.e. backgrounds or writing). Thanks & looking forward to the workshop.

i love, love, love minibooks! i would like to see what other binding options there are. my “mini” books end up being large heifers (I’m talking about 3″ thick!) and I would like to see other binding methods besides the giant metal binder rings.

I would love to see what happens when you “mess up”. I think everything that you make seems absolutely perfect. I know that mistakes are inevitable…how do you work with these and make them part of the process and the finished product? I have made a couple mini-books in the past and left out the journaling because I was worried I’d spell something wrong!

I would love some tips on using Photoshop to create something like your wedding album! Love it and would love to be able to incorporate some of that into a mini album. Also, I like Molly’s idea above about what happens when you “mess up”.

I totally love your style, Elise! I am mini book obsessed and rarely make layouts.
I love how you put seemingly random supplies together to make something meaningful and fabulous for your minis. Nothing ever looks matchy-matchy but it all goes so well together.
I would definitely sign up for one of your classes. I like classes that give me full instructions on how to put something together and I would really like you to offer a kit as I think I would find it difficult to get hold the amazing supplies (like stuff from Paper Source) that you use here in the UK.
As for a theme, looking back through your mini book archive, these are the sorts of things that interest me the most: This is home, Adore, Whole, NYC on the road – yes, a travel album would be great for this time of year!
Hope this is useful feedback. Thanks! Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

I guess my main question would be how to take random stuff (photos, tickets, etc.) and make it look cohesive? Thanks! Looking forward to seeing what you put together. How do online workshops work?

Can’t wait to see what you come up with! I can see I am not alone in loving your ability to put together elements and they seem to flow. Would love to hear more on this process. Do your elements/paper come together before or after the photos? Do some photos not make the cut? Your mini albums always seems so current, I seem to be afraid to do an important event because I want it to be special. It never gets done because I fear messing it up. How do you stay so much in the here and now?

I can’t wait to see what you come up with…I did the weekly online mini you did back in 2008 and honestly, it’s the ONLY class I did all the way through…even other paid classes, I’ve bailed on. And like you, I’m a mini-book nut…just finishing a little one from a short trip to Disney with my little guy!!
