It was a stay indoors weekend as a big blizzard hit the DC area. I was without cable and internet for a day but I had plenty of paper projects to work on until I ran out of adhesive. I got started on the custom save the dates I'm making for a friend and made a lot of progress on our wedding programs and invites.

A mini crisis occurred once on Saturday afternoon when I was popping popcorn in the microwave and set off not one, but two smoke alarms. Let me tell you, you haven't lived until you've tried to air out your apartment during a blizzard. Our house still smells like burning and my arms are still sore from flailing a pillow around.

I tried to leave the house twice yesterday and failed both times. The roads are a mess because Maryland is not equipped for this type of weather. No one drives in lanes, instead it's a battle over who can find the most used tire tracks to follow in. Total disaster. I am hoping to go to the grocery store on foot today. I have to be prepared in case MORE SNOW dumps on us as scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Just keep swimming. Happy Monday.

PS – giveaway winner from last week is commenter #22 : Michelle Elford. Michelle please email me so I can get your gocco print in the mail.

Looks like you made a ton of progress! I can’t believe it.. up in new england we hardly have any snow… feel free to flail your pillow in my direction.. perhaps the snow storm will shift??! So excited after seeing your video demonstration of the gocco printer that I invested in one myself!!! I can’t wait till it arrives to start playing!! Thanks so much for your continued advice and craft ideas!!

Welcome to winter! It sucks for sure (I live in Eastern/Atlantic Canada, so I know something about bad winters), but you do get used to it (luckily you won’t have to deal with it much longer once you head off to sunny California again!) An occasional snowed in weekend isn’t always so bad, glad you made the most of it 🙂

stay safe! i definitely do not envy you with that weather. i lived in MD for about 6 years and the icy/wintry weather was the main reason i left.

Wow, that’s a lot of snow!! 😉 We had loads here in the SE of the UK over Christmas and New Year-more than we’d ever seen in years in this area, and more is scheduled in the next week 😦 I’m so OVER it right now!!!!! Be safe when you go out. xoxo

what type of boots are you wearing in the snow? we went on a snow tour to see how silver spring faired the storm and sadly realized my available footwear is a big precipitation fail. 😦

I did use the paper source templates. And yes, they only fit ps envelopes.

Elise, how do you get seamless runs on some of your photographs? My pictures always have a tiny gap between them no matter how hard I try! Martina x

In typepad, go under the HTML tab when you are writing your post. Replace the p/p with b
    That should do it.

Hi Elise. I’m a college art student in Ohio, and I was wondering if you could take a couple minutes to contribute to a collaborative project that a friend and I have put together. It’s called solemates, and it’s basically a collection of pictures of feet (because images of our feet are representative of our ongoing personal narratives). Ideally, we want others to contribute (instead of us just searching the web and finding photos) and since one of the pictures above is your snow boots, I thought you might have others you could add, too. Thanks!

I love your indoors photography. I do photography, have sold some prints and been in a couple of shows even, but I have yet to get a -good- indoor shot. Poor lighting often and it is always difficult to find a decent or blank background for a shot.
(Your outdoors shots are good too, of course!)
