gocco from elise blaha on Vimeo.

Above is a video (about 8 minutes long) of how to make a gocco master screen and prints. It's un-edited so there are some awkward parts (like the freeze frame it chose) but at least it shows how quick the process can be. Here is a great site with more info about Gocco. Here is an online store that sells Gocco inks, screens & bulbs.

Hope you enjoy!

Bella and I watched. She was so excited and kept saying, “She did it! She did it!” haha. I don’t know if I’ll ever own a Gocco, but it was really interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you – that video was awesome. I have wanted a Gocco for years & sort of held off b/c I was worried I’d have a hard time using it…not anymore! 🙂
Also, I love your mixed paper journals – photos of 2 I’ve worked on are on my blog/flickr.

Thanks for this. One of my goals for 2010 is so buy a gocco but I’ve been hesitating because I couldn’t really find out how they worked and was worried I wouldn’t be able to figure it out and then it’d be a waste. I think I’ll go buy one now.
A question tho – you you have to reapply the ink after a few copies or does that amount of ink stay for them all?
    THANKS!

So now that I’ve watched your tutorial I am totally wanting to own one. I went on ebay and found a bunch but they seem to range greatly – is that because there are a bunch of different models?

hi Cris, the box mine came in says B6HM which I think is the model number it prints on a 4×6 surface. Hope that helps!

Hi Elise, thank you so so much for this amazing tutorial! I’m planning to get a gocco printer (thanks to you!) and I’ve seen kits and printer(only) for sale online. Which do you think is better to get for a beginner like me- a kit and then just buy additional inks or the printer unit only and buy the accessories (bulbs, screen, inks, etc.) separately?

I think I would go with a kit. Good luck!

I have worked @ a fine art store in Orange County, Ca. for over 10 years…@ one point we sold the “Print Gocco”. I was lucky enough to demonstrate it’s use, just not a well as you!
They were hard to get and we stopped carring them years ago! Blast from the past and a delight to be reminded of what an easy and fabulous tool they are! Thanks so much for renewing my interest!

    Hey Elise,
I was googling gocco and I happened upon your blog. Great video, thanks! I was wondering whether the lights are only good for one use. So when you are making your master copy and the lights go out, does that mean you need another set of lights for your next master piece for your next project?
Thanks for your answer and being awesome, have a good day!
