IMG_2830 IMG_2831 Whew, home in the homeland. The land of the inexpensive produce. The land of the funny and supportive parents. Land of the old VHS home movies that we felt like watching last night. Feels very good to be back.

Sadly though, I have a severe case of jet lag which I think has a lot to do with the fact that I slept only a few hours on Saturday night after that crazy football game. Trying to get back in tip top shape and get some stuff done and taken care of today. Buying a new camera is for sure on the list. I think I have it narrowed down and will share when it arrives. I have taken Molly's advice to heart : "it's a big purchase, but rest assured either way you go there's no wrong decision." Yes, Molly, I think you are right.

I have to agree with Molly. I got a T1i, but I don’t think I needed to go for that one. If I had it to do over (ok, I’d probably get a Nikon D60, but that aside…), I think I should have gone with the XSi (which I had originally planned to do, but got overzealous about NEW stuff). The 50 mm 1.8 lens is great, although I’m wondering if I should’ve waited and gotten the 1.4 instead. And, I must say that I do, in fact, use the kit lens. Why? Well, sometimes it’s nice to get close to stuff. Which you can’t really with the 50mm (it’s not a macro).
But, what I decided in the end was that WOW – all of these dSLRs are better than I had (ok, p&s is still necessary for some things). So, you’ll be happy with whatever you get.

I love my Nikon D90. If you have a friend with a good camera and she knows how to use it, that is the one you should get because then you will have someone to show you how to do stuff. Just a thought.

I say Molly’s advice is perfect. Good luck to you : )
This is coming from the frequently frugal gal who wanted a Mac, actually needed a Mac, had the money to purchase said Macbook, went to the store and met with a Apple dude, yet nearly managed to talk herself out and leave the store.
Thank goodness for patient boyfriends who can be the voice of reason!
