Website
Finally. That took longer than I thought it would. And like many projects, I got halfway into it and thought, "Is this right?" "Is this how I want it to look?" But now that every page is complete and I hope every link is linked, I am pretty happy with the new site.
Web2
I said earlier that I wanted something simple where I could store all of my on going projects, like workshop information, custom books, etc. I added a section about minibooks and a catalog of most of my collection. Right now, you can click each book to see the front cover. Eventually, I want each book to be listed in it's entirety so every page can be flipped through. I think  I need a little bit more HTML training though so I am not creating an entire web page per book page.

On the workshops page, I mentioned a new month long class I am developing for September called, The Visual Adventure. I am pretty excited for it and will be keeping you posted.

AND OF COURSE, a giveaway.

Please take a second to browse the site and check for bugs, broken links, spelling errors, grammar issues, wonky photos, etc. I have only checked it out in firefox and safari so it is probably upside down and backwards in internet explorer. If you see an error or two, leave them in the comments so I can make edits. If you don't want to check for issues and just want to win, you can just leave a comment with your favorite font. (I am currently a big fan of this one.) I will be choosing three winners at random tomorrow morning. One will get a handbound book (not custom, but still cool). One will get a mixed paper journal. And one will get an envelope full of letterpress + pretty paper.

Thank you! Happy Tuesday!

I really enjoyed your website. I am in internet explorer and it is not upsidedown or sideways – so I think your golden. My favorite font is anything in cursive right now… I am hooked on anything flowing together and looking old. love it. Have a wonderful day.

I think the site looks great. My fav color is orange! I’m usually a fan of more modern, kinda architectural fonts, but lately I’ve been using traveling typewriter a lot. I also like uncle typewriter for a more messy look.

Fun website! My only critique would be that the orange font is a bit hard to read. I’m aware of your love for all things orange so i get why you used it, just sayin!
My favorite font is CK Becky by the talented Becky Higgins.

Ahh! I love it! I could feel your ambition as I was browsing through it. I have been reading your blog for quite a long time now and I feel like I completely know you – you’ve written at different points about not knowing which direction to take the “career” and wondering if you are on the right path in that sense. Looking through your web site, I could feel that you are moving in the right direction and doing what you are meant to – by continually persuing these self-motivated business and art ideas. Everything is simple enough to take a quick browse + elegant…and your personality shines through. Love it. If you do decide to go the business route at some point you should work for a company designing creative web sites and business cards. Ok, I will stop now, I can see the comment box is overflowing. Great work!

    site looks rad Elise!
The only thing that I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to do something was that only a couple of the pictures on the front page changed to the orange text if that makes sense, but the images were still clickable and had information under them. It made me wonder if all the images were supposed to show the orange text when you scrolled over them (if you know what I mean).
And for what it’s worth my all time fave font is centruy gothic.

    Hi Elise,
Great great site! I’m working on stress-testing a website at work so forgive me if my comments seem a bit detailed – I’m in the zone.
Anyway, I noticed that when I click on one of the squares, then press the back button in my browser (firefox) that square stays highlighted along with any other square I roll over, until I roll back over that square again. Hopefully that makes sense – and its also a small detail.
I also noticed that on a few of the pages, the word spacing is really spread apart – likely because you’re fitting the text to the column width. Maybe there is a way to make it less so? I noticed it most in the 2nd paragraph of ‘I’d like to chat’, the 3rd paragraph of ‘On little books’ and the 7th paragraph in ‘Custom Books’.
Lastly, as I was typing this, I noticed that the ‘I like mini books’ doesn’t have an orange roll-over. That might be a new thing – I didn’t notice it earlier.

I’m using Google Chrome. Just a couple things I see with formatting:
    – The spacing of the pictures on the front page between row 2 and 3 is taller than the space between row 1 and 2.
    – The top of “elise joy blaha” down the side of the picture grid is cut off by the grid.
Website looks great! How do you do the thing where the picture changes when you hover over it with the mouse?

I hope I win coz I love all of your mini books!!
