So the word from P is that it is too early to commit to colors. But these shoes fit my orange + gray plan so fabulously.

Colors

I do not have a theme for the wedding. But I do want it to feel warm. Warm and sunny like California. I am going to rely heavily on color (and maybe candles?) to achieve this. And I am definitely being drawn to orange tones, light gray and cream. I love the above combination – except not as muted as it looks on the internet. Paul, what do you think?

you had me at “gray” (i think it’s missing the key PS component of CURRY. … just kidding).
also, dude, a color scheme is like 99% of the wedding. at least in my limited experience. dealing with crazy (and not so crazy) brides. paul needs to get his business hat on.

I love the colors. Flowers that fit those first two warm colors would be beautiful – accented with ribbon or something of the darker tones. Love it!

First of all I love all of your colors. They’re really unique and cozy warm, like you said. Second….buy the shoes now, lol. Even if your colors change they’re still completely awesome…and they won’t be around 4 months from now most likely. Have a good Thursday!

    LOVE those shoes! buy them…NOW.
even if you end up not using that color scheme (although it’s FABULOUS + you should) the shoes are great! plus, they might not be available when you finalize the colors…

Hi Elise!! Congradulations on your engagement. I don’t think you are planning to far in advance. Me and my husband were engaged for a year and it literally took the whole year to plan and pay for our wedding. Take your time and find your perfect dress, table settings, invites and enjoy this time because it will be over all too soon and you’ll want to do it all over again, atleast I would 🙂 Have a great day and happy planning!!!

I loooove these colors! They are so fun and yes- very very warm. 🙂
How did you make that color strip? I heard of a program or a website or something but I can’t find it. Thanks!

I like your blog, your creativity, your love story and the colour scheme for the wedding! (a little tiny bit of pink with the orange, creme, grey would be also great and probably even more vivid…)
bless you! and thanks for all the fresh inspiration.

It’s taken me a few days of spontaneous browsing but I have finished reading (skimming) your (inspirational and ) blog archives. Now, more than anything, I want to finish my degree and spend my days crafting. I wish there was a paper source in Victria, BC (Canada!) and I am saddened by the fact that my favorite crafty store is across the pond in Vancouver (where I used to live.) I think you’d like it too: http://www.assemblyoftext.com/
Ho hum. Maybe I am destined to open up my own little shop and sell papery goods to people in Victoria! New life plan…starting…now.

GO FOR IT. My only advice is not to buy too much. If something ends up not working out, it’s nice if you don’t have 1,000 blank pulpboard coasters in your living room (yes I do).
We kind of went the opposite direction as you did with colors. Grey is my fav, so it’s the most prominent, and it’s darker, like charcoal. Then the other colors are lighter. We also added gold in just recently, to warm up all that grey. Color schemes are ever-changing. 🙂

    totally sweet colour combo.
Have you thought of wearing a Silver/grey dress?
I had 2 peice powder blue, LOVED IT, still do, even had another skirt made from the excess fabric to wear again to a formal function (which was totally rad when spending the initial big $$ on the dress in the first place).
And for what its worth, asking around and finding suggestions about good local dressmaker/designers to interpret your fave styles can help on the $$ and you get a fully custom gown without going broke for it.
