Because they will ask, right? Someday they will ask where I was and how I felt.

I will tell them that I watched everything unfold on TV – and grumbled over the fact that I was so close and yet so far to the millions of people who flooded the capital today.

I will tell them that I clapped my hands and stood on the couch as President Obama walked out on to the stage to cheers.

I will tell them that I was gitty with excitement and so proud of the confident man who now represents my country. The President who believes that "people will judge you on what you build, not what you destroy."

Interesting site here comparing inaguration words of past presidents.

beautiful and amen!! I had to teach all day and my school was too busy caring about final exams to acknowledge this historic day.

my 7 yo got to watch at school, and they had a party. He was all excited telling us about it, then fearing he would loose his TV time for the evening he said. “Well it was cool, but it wasn’t that fun like Sponge Bob or anything” that quote is a keeper.

We too watched from North Carolina, and as you, we are very proud of our new leader. He steps into office at a crucial time and holds his head high and confident. We Americans have a long tough road ahead and a new President who will lead the way. It’s a good day! Kathy

we got to set up our huge tv in our meeting room to stream the inauguration on CNN; my boss ordered the department pizza. we sat and munched happily while watching your new president act totally human during his oath, and then all 25 of us listened in silent admiration at his inaugural speech.
i have to admit; we up here in canada have also caught obama fever.. i think the heat waves from the new high of patriotism is kind of infectious. we’re kind of jealous, up here.
    congrats on a new era.

As a very proud Australian, i could not help but feel a little envious of such a charismatic, focussed, intelligent and articulate new leader.
As i watches the coverage we had here on the inauguration, i found myself nodding and shouting ‘yes!’ when Obama said “people will judge you on what you build, not what you destroy.” This quote especially got me choked up, thinking THAT is exactly what the world needed to be told YEARS ago and this man has said it. I feel good about the future with Obama in power.

I sat at my computer at the office and secretly watched the entire thing breathless. I wrote down the same quote. Of all the things he said, I scribbled down those words on a scrap in my office to remember this day.

It’s crazy how when big things happen in the world they don’t feel as big as they actually are a lot of the time.
