Am totally hooked on When We Left Earth, a Discovery channel show about Nasa flight missions. Tonight we watched the first two episodes – starting with the Mercury 7.
These guys FLEW PEOPLE INTO SPACE with little more than graph paper, pencils, cigars and compasses.
I love hearing about how 100 million people tuned in to watch John Glenn orbit the earth. I love the idea of everyone being united in something so groundbreaking. I love that John Kennedy, in a speech to the United States, announced "We choose to go to the moon. Not because it is easy, but because it is hard."
How fantastically inspiring.
