enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

When I was little, I would go to the hardware store with Dad and stare at the paint strips. Sometimes I would take five or so home. Based on my color selection, it would appear I was planning to paint a tie dye print on a circus tent.

In 2004, I had a layout published in PaperKuts Magazine that used paint strips:Paint_chips_2

My entire life, Dad has told me that you are never supposed to use the darkest color on the paint strip to paint a room. Whenever I chose a color for my room, I then had to look up two shades. This new color was what was actually going on my walls.

My bedroom in Sacramento has gone from white to light blue to light yellow to a light mint color (Notice the "light" – Dad helped decide.)

When I was president, my room at Alpha Phi was bright, end-of-the-paint-strip, lime green. Eventually, after my belongings were moved in, I was able to take off my sunglasses and look at the walls without scorching my retinas.

With all of this in mind, I searched for paint chips with Paul today.

We are thinking green for the bedroom and a yellow and gray combination for the tv room/eating area.Img_6219

Our bathroom is not getting painted. But we have been collecting "creatures" that are going on the walls. Once everything gets delivered and framed I will share. A funny place, our new bathroom.
