You know at major sporting events there are those big "Noise-O-Meters" on the jumbotron? And how the louder the crowd gets, the further to the right the needle goes? And the crowd keeps yelling, and the needle keeps moving, and somewhere, in a box, behind the action, there is a guy at his computer laughing at his power to control a crowd of 100,000?
Of course you do.
Well I feel a little like that right now. Only instead of noise level, it is work level. And instead of moving the needle to the right, I am consuming boxes of cereal.
Because if I have learned ONE THING in the past four years it is that the amount of cereal I eat is inversely proportional to the amount of work I currently have in front of me. And it is not that cereal makes the work manageable. No. Cereal provides a suitable distraction from the piles of work. And something about the constant spoon from bowl to mouth gesture calms me. And something about watching little pieces of matter go soft in milk is reassuring.
And blogging is also reassuring. Because, unlike in Word, the darkroom and Dreamweaver, I can make sense in this little type box. And if not sense, humor.
And Blogland, you never, ever, kick me while I am down. And for that I thank you.
