enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

The title of this post is best when you imagine a studio audience
shouting it, and then you see me run out and high-five the crowd.  I am
wearing a cool apron with gluesticks and deco scissors in the pockets.
There is also a yard of ribbon stuck to my shoe, but I don’t trip on
it.  It is there to make me look like the real deal.

Ahem.

So I have this new "Golden Birthday Craft Plan."
And the thing about craft plans is that unlike life plans, they are
much harder to crush.  Something about the not having to interview for
it part.  I am totally excited about this plan.  It is called,
"Everyday that you feel like it, decorate a playing card."  Emily
Falconbridge
, who rocks a large portion of the scrapbook world, is
doing a challenge with playing cards once a week for 2007.  Totally
awesome concept.  Because the thing about playing cards is that they
are small enough to do quickly, can be bought in bulk and are really
fun to paint.

I would love to do one a day for everyday of my Golden Year.
But that is a little ambitious.  So I am going to go for as many days
as possible.  Sort of like PaperArt.  Only smaller.

But my
larger plan is that after the year I pick my favorites and put them in
a shadow box and hang them on my wall.  And then I will remember that
one time when I was 22.  (Sidenote: Sometimes I get really fearful that
Paul will want to kill me when our house is decorated like as the Elise Blaha National Craft Museum.  But then I will remind him that the money we saved on real decorations went to the purchasing of his HDTV.  Even though I will secretly really like the TV because my craft show is on it and ribbon looks really good in High Def.)

Long story short, here is Card One.  I made the base about a
week ago because I just could not wait.  But I held out until 2/22 to
finish it off.

Oh and also, my cards are bright pink and I bought them at Target.

I found your blog today and read all the way down. No kidding. I can’t explain why, except that I always find some reason to stop reading a blog (bad grammar – not interesting – same old junk topics – etc.) and that didn’t happen on your blog! Thanks for amusing me this morning!
