enJOY it

When people say that "traveling" is one of their favorite activities, I think they are confused.  "Being somewhere else" is fun.  "Seeing new places" is fun.  The actual act of "moving from one place to another" is not enjoyable.  Especially when it involves airplanes.  Small ones.

That said, I shall backtrack to my long weekend in Bethesda.

It was fun.

It was different.  Which, I suppose is to expected, as Paul and I have never spent that much time together.  So it was definitely a learning experience.  He learned that I can be difficult to get along with.  And I learned that he is very patient.  And we both learned what makes the other laugh.  And that is each other.

So what did we do?  We grocery shopped.  We cooked good food.  We ate good food.  We drove around.  We watched Cal beat Minnesota.  We walked around DC.  We talked about politics.  We talked about nothing.  We took this photo:

Img_2229That is the White House in the back.  We did not see George W.  He does not like to ride the metro into the city or visit the Air and Space Museum.  Weird, I know.

So yes.  That is the trip.  Five days is a long time.  But we did not kill each other.  Well, more remarkable than that…he did not kill me.  [Thank you].

But now I am faced with getting Back On Track.  With classes.  And sleep.  And work.  And unpacking.  And catching up with the girls.  Which, between you and me, is the only part I am looking forward to.
