Dadandme

Most of my outgoing cell phone calls go to Dad.  For sure.  And the call lasts about one minute.  Enough time for me to inform him of whatever important discovery I just made.  It did not really occur yet until I have told him.  He is the guy to go to.

Good news?  Call Dad.  Bad news?  Call Dad.  Lost in LA?  Failed a test?  Found a new job opportunity?  Need to prep for an interview?  Can’t handle a situation?  Problem with a friend?  Problem with a boyfriend?  Car broken?  Necklace broken?  Cell phone broken?  Computer broken?  Worried?  Happy?  Sad?  Scared?  Concerned?  Drunk?

Call Dad.

And it is because he will listen.  He will advise.  He will support.  He will tell me what to say.  He will fix the problem, car, necklace, cell phone and computer.  We think the same.  Our brains process information to filter what is important from what is fluff.  We communicate very quickly to find solutions.  We click.

Because of our ability to communicate I am able to learn so much from him.  Able to live in his example.  Able to see myself in a positive light and be confident.  I understand how important it is to give and receive respect in all of my relationships.  I understand more about myself.

He is not perfect.  And we battle.  But it is all because of Dad that I have drive.  Because he told me when I was eight years old that when I grew up I could work in a tall building and wear a suit.  And when I do I will still be calling him daily to keep him informed.

Thank you, Daddy.  You are my hero.  My rock.
