enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

So, I am driving to Target this afternoon.  And for some reason I was thinking about my planner.  It is a real thick leather one that looks a lot like a bible.  It has one page for each day.  It has lines for each half hour of the day, from 8am – 8pm.  I love it.  It keeps me on track.

Anyway.  I realized how horrified I would be if someone read it.  If someone looked through it.  If someone saw the activities that I jot down and the stuff I cross out.  And then I thought about how odd that is.  I have no problem typing up my flaws and fears and awkward moments and publishing them on the internet.  But my daily activities?  The mundane stuff on my to-do lists?  That seems much to personal to share.

Today’s writings are exactly this:

  • 7:30  —  yoga
  • 10:00  —  bring Duffy for haircut, deposit cash, d/o movie
  • 10:30  —  gym
  • 11:30  —  lunch
  • 1:00  —  Target: Penny gift  Michaels: xtra pgs.
  • 5:30  —  dinner w/ lex and meg

Sharing because it should not be so embarrassing.  Still feel like it is though.  Still feels like such an invasion to have someone read your planner.  So weird.

I hear ya! My planner is very colourful and tends to attract a lot of wandering eyes and attention!

This is valid, yet no easier for me to actually put into words. I am private about how I conduct the mundane rituals and activities of my everyday life. I think reading my massive amounts of “To Do” lists, from the small simple goals to the large complex goals, could be viewed by the untrained eye as the random ramblings of some crazy girl who maybe has a little too much “Albert Einstein-esque” eccentricity going on. I am just as private about my cleaning and laundry rituals. I don’t know why, but I’m the same way about this.
