I am a creature of habit.
At school I would occasionally walk up to my bike and hit the automatic unlock button for my car, in hopes that the U-lock would pop off. It was habit. I have breakfast habits, bedtime habits, driving habits, shopping habits, internet habits. Little things that come together to create order and routine.
This might be why I enjoy yoga so much. It is all about routine. The same poses. The same breathing. The same phrases. Yoga stays the same. Your body just gets stronger. Thus, Habit Has The Ability To Cause Change.
When I take personality tests for job interviews there is always the question: "Which do you prefer: 1. When events happen as they are supposed to? or 2. When things come up unexpectedly?" I always want to check the second box. I want to appear as though I can handle anything. As though I am up for adventure. As though I am exciting. But that is a lie. I love habit. I love routine. I love to-do lists and agendas. I love the idea that if I accomplish X, Y & Z then A, B & C will occur. Might not be exciting. But it excites me.
