I imagine that when I am a mother, I will want to be a lot of things for my children. I will want to be protective. Capable. Brave. Knowledgeable. Comforting. Caring. Loving. Reassuring. Trusting. Trusted. I imagine that a lot of parents want to be those things. What they forget is that there is one thing that they always represent for their children. Every minute of every day, they are an Example. Their actions, words, emotions and tone influence and impact their children. Forever.
I am so blessed to have Mom as my Example. As my guidebook of what is right. She is in me. In the little things: keeping a balanced checkbook, being friendly to the checkout clerks, signing emails and cards with just my first initial, cutting an apple just perfectly. But it is the big things that I respect and admire most. She has demonstrated unwavering faith in God. Demonstrated how to forgive an forget. Demonstrated commitment. Demonstrated unconditional love for me and Ro.
She is my example of how to be a good person. Of how to raise a child. It is about listening, providing, hugging and loving. When I have my own children, I will just remember how she acted. And do my best to follow her example.
