One of the cool things about working the Admission Office is I get to go to perspective and admitted student receptions. I get to watch USC put its best foot forward many times a year.
This morning I went to a breakfast for Southern California High School Juniors. Watched them get excited. Watched them start to feel some of the Love that I feel for USC. I also got to hear from some of the Universities best. The Dean of Admission and Financial Aid, Katherine Harrington, spoke and said my favorite thing. The thing that she always says…something like: "Because of medical advancements, you are more than likely going to live into your 100s. And you are probably going to work into your 80s. During that time you are going to have 4 or 5 different careers – not jobs – careers. USC is the school of the future. We are going to prepare you for that."
And, like always, I got goosebumps. Dude. So exciting to be on the cusp. To look at potential. To experience change. To expect growth.
Dad says that he wishes he could go back to college. Back to where you get to sit and listen to intelligent people share their thoughts. Yeah. Wish you were here, Dad.
