enJOY it

an archived personal and craft blog from Elise Blaha Cripe.

In Personal Selling this afternoon, we talked about time management.  About life management, actually.  The Professor did the rock, pebbles and sand demonstration:

Take a jar. Pour in the sand.  No room for pebbles or rocks.  Empty jar, pour in pebbles, sand can fit, but not the rocks.  Start with the rocks.  Add some pebbles. Add the sand.  Everything fits.

My jar is full.  My life is full.  Must remember to put in the rocks first.  Allow space for pebbles and sand.

  • Rocks represent the most important things in my life.  Family.  Friends.  Art.  My love, entertainment and escape.
  • Pebbles are classes and work.  Things that I am committed to.  My daily tasks.
  • Sand is the rest. The details.  The chores.  The fun.  The extras.  What fills my days.

It is about prioritizing.  About recognizing and honoring the big stuff.  The important stuff.  Building from there.  Creating space for what makes me complete.
