enJOY it

I have a love/hate relationship with the city of Los Angeles.  As in, I love to hate it.  I think it is a rule that if you live here you have to complain.  About the traffic.  About the smog.  About the lack of parking.  About the sheer trendiness.  About how people do not eat real food.

It is supposed to be the city that I live in for four years.  It is my temporary home – no strings attached.

But then sometimes it surprises me.  Like today.  In the Bug.  Driving home from the Beverly Center.  Tegan and Sara playing on the iPod.  Windows down.  Traffic crazy.  Look left and see the Hollywood sign.  Smile.  Realize that I live here.  In this huge and crazy city.  I navigate it.  I exist in it.  I have started to thrive in it.

Parking will always be terrible.  But I will remember the good times.  I will remember sunshine in March.  I will remember today.
